Repatriation Services
Repatriation services are required if death occurs outside of the home country. The process of bringing home a body from a foreign country (repatriation of remains) usually involves these steps:
- Obtaining of the death certificate
- Registering the death at the respective embassy
- Engaging a local funeral director to handle the outbound repatriation logistics
- Engaging a funeral director in the home country to handle the inbound logistics

Documentation Required for Repatriation
While the documentation may differ from country to country, in general, before a casket can leave a country, a permit is required. To apply for this permit, you will usually need the following documents:
- Death Certificate
- Embalming Certificate
- Encoffin Certificate

- Raise the necessary paperwork to obtain the coffin export permit

- Providing a holding area while waiting clearance for repatriation
Repatriation to Singapore
- Handle all necessary paperwork and logistics to ensure the remains is allowed into Singapore i.e. avoid unnecessary delay
- Actual funeral staging including burial or cremation arrangements
- Accompanying of family member to foreign country to offer advise on collection and repatriation of the remains (optional an don request)

Casket Services
Caskets, also often referred to as coffins, are usually made of either metal or wood. These days, fibre glass coffins, finished in faux wood or marble, are also available and are lighter and usually used for infant burials.

Types of Caskets
Metal Caskets
Metal Caskets include bronze or copper ones which are usually the most expensive and prestigious. This is due to the rustproof nature of the material, as well as other factors such a quality priced by weight per foot.
However, as these caskets cannot be used for cremation, they are not commonly found in Singapore.
Wooden Caskets
These are more commonly seen in Singapore funerals and can be made of various types of hardwood, from Mahogany to Oak or even Veneer.
Of these, the Mahogany, Cherry and Walnut ones are usually the most prestigious and expensive while those made with Pine, Poplar or Veneer are normally the cheapest.
Green Caskets
In line with the Green movement worldwide, Green Caskets, made of eco friendly materials such as bamboo, hemp or organic wood are now available in western countries. We are currently studying the feasibility of bringing these caskets into Singapore.
Gasketed vs Non-Gasketed Casket
There is a misconception that gasketed (or sealed) caskets can preserve the body better. In reality, all they do is keep out water, dust and debris. Gas will still freely enter and escape and hence, decomposition will still take place.
Interior Lining of Casket
The interior is often lined with either velvet, satin or cotton crepe. There is also a variety of colours to choose from.
Burial or Cremation Casket
If the Casket is being used for cremation, metal caskets as well as caskets with metal parts are automatically out.
